Interior Painting – Lafayette Hill PA
The living room and bar area of this Fort Washington home were overwhelmed by the wide, darkly stained wood paneling.
To brighten the interior of their Swiss chalet styled living area, the homeowners asked the Patch and Paint Pros to cover the wood panels with paint while leaving the ceiling beams exposed.
Wood Painting Prep:
To prepare the natural wood for paint the walls were first sanded and primed with oil paint. This oil based paint is necessary to lock in the wood’s natural oils to keep them from bleeding through the latex paint.

After applying the oil based paint, the interior walls were then painted with two coats of Benjamin Moore – Baltic Gray 1467 in a flat finish.
The vaulted ceilings were painted with a flat white to brighten the room and highlight the beauty of the exposed wooden beams. Flat white is a great choice for most ceilings because it help to mask imperfections and uneven areas.
To finish updating the look of this dark wooden room, the Patch and Paint Pros painted the trim white using Sherwin Williams top of the line Emerald brand paint in a semi-gloss finish to highlight the soft gray of the walls.
